Week 12-Another Happy Week!!

Hey!! This week has been super long and super busy!! I didn't have time (or the energy haha) to journal at all this week so we'll see what I can remember...

Some awesome experiences/miracles....
  • One night during KO we went to knock the last door of the night (it's always the last door! Go read President Uchtdorf's talk Fourth Floor, Last Door. So good!!) but there was an electric powered gate out front so we couldn't get in. We rang the doorbell twice by the gate and then it opened so we assumed they were letting us in, so in we went. When we knocked on their actual door a woman opened the door. She looked super confused and asked how we got in. We were super confused and asked "Didn't you just let us in? The gate just opened after we rang the doorbell." She said the doorbell was broken and she hadn't even touched the gate remote but invited us in. Super cool! We shared the church Christmas video (if you haven't seen it GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!!! Such a beautiful video! Go watch it again even if you have seen it!!! I love love love sharing it with others!!!) with her and her two daughters. She then told us "Wow I think this is a sign from God. My husband and I just recently accepted Christ as our Savior 3 months ago because we were Buddhist before (she's from Thailand) and we've been looking to learn more. I think God sent you to us to tell us it was the right choice. I didn't even open the door and here you are." At this point my comp and I were trying not to belt out YOU'RE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! haha we then taught her how to pray and she wants to start having lessons with the missionaries. Such a cool experience!!! God works in mysterious ways and it's so fun to see how everything perfectly unfolds!
  • Another miracle!! One night we were super late to a dinner and as we were driving there my comp said "We have to go to Adrian's right now. Turn left." without really thinking about it I quickly hoped 3 lanes over and turned left. Horns were honked. People were angry. Already 20 mins late to dinner. Pero esta bien!! That morning my comp had felt as if we should visit one of our potentials named Adrian who's 14 and we've only talked to for about 5 minutes once before, later on in the day. Apparently as we were driving to our dinner she had looked out the window at the exact time we passed Adrians house and felt a strong prompting to go visit. She took a mental note and said yeah we will after dinner. We're late and I'm hungry (literally us at every moment haha). She got the prompting again saying no right now and had a little battle with herself for about 5 mins before she said anything to me about it. She's telling me all of this as we're emergency parking the car on the side of the road (that's how everyone parks here. We call it pisa parking haha. Super convienent!) and running to his apartment. As soon as we get there she knew that was exactly where we needed to be. He was home and we watched the Christmas video with him in the doorway of his apartment. Then my comp asked if he'd follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by someone holding the proper priesthood authority and he said YES!!!!!! We've barely ever talked to this kid before and he said yes!!! But he needed to ask his mom. We said that's true and he shut the door and went to ask her right then and there! She said no but we talked to him some more and he said he'll read and pray about it!!! It was the coolest experience ever!!!!! We ended up being an hour late to dinner but the family was so sweet and understanding and loved the story. It was truly a Christmas miracle!!! ........................His mom texted us Saturday though saying we're not allowed to come to their house anymore or talk to Adrian. NOOOOOOOOOO. But we have hope that she will have a change of heart!!! Regardless, it was still a miracle!
  • We had two lessons with our investigator Benjamin this week and I LOVE HIM!!!!!!! It is truly such a privelidge to teach him! It's as if everything is merely being brought to his remembrance. He loves learning more and has such a sincere desire to follow God's will. And he's read all the way to Mosiah!! Como eso?! He's the best!!!!! He seems so much happier now too that he has the gospel in his life. He's getting baptized on January 14th and I could not be more excited for him!! He is the cutest man!!!
Some spiritual insights....
  • I've been reading the Old and New Testament along with the Book of Mormon during my personal studies and I just love the scriptures so much! Reading about Christ's ministry is so powerful. I love the beautiful truths and promises found throughout all the scriptures we have. They bring me so much joy!!! I love the prophets of old!!! And our modern day prophets as well of course!
  • During our district meeting this week, our District Leader asked us to ponder on this question... "What will you put on the alter of sacrifice to improve? What are you not willing to give up to be a better instrument in Christ's hand?" I've been thinking about this question a lot and came to this conclusion: For me personally I need to have more confidence in my abilities. Specifically when it comes to making decisions and speaking Spanish. I've come to realize that when I talk negatively about my ability to speak this beautiful language or am afraid to make decisions pertaining to our investigators or other aspects of missionary life, I'm not showing God the trust I have in Him. He trusts me with His work, with the decisions I make, and the ability to speak this language. I need to have trust in myself and in His belief in me. I can do His work but only if we work together!!
  • This life is about actions. We're meeting with this one less active couple and as soon as we asked them to start coming to church again they have been! And through that decision to act they are so much happier!! They're the best!
Some funnies/randoms....
  • I only had $6 left of MSF (the money missionaries get every month) last Monday for grocery shopping so I bought a bag of cuties, a box of granola, and some pan dulce. haha but don't worry mom I didn't starve! The members take care of us!
  • Sometimes the members are too nice when it comes to feeding us though haha. We double dinner'd it one night (not intentionally) and we were so full afterwards we both almost puked and had to waddle back to the car haha.
  • During KO one night we heard a huge explosion. Don't worry not gun shots!
  • Saturday night my comp shut the car door on her pinkie finger! I had to come open the door for her it was that bad! She didn't chop it off though!! Just cut it up and is probs going to lose her fingernail. She was a good sport about it though!!
  • Transfers are tomorrow and the two Elders from our ward are leaving. SO sad!! We took funny group pics though!! All us Hermanas are staying the same!! We're super excited to have Christmas together!!!
Love you all!!! Hope all is well in your lives!!!!!!!! Mucho amor!!
