Some spiritual thoughts from the week....
- "Evil can be undone, but it cannot 'develop' into good. Time does not heal it. The spell must be unwound" (C. S. Lewis). I found that in the footnotes to a General Conference talk I was reading this morning (Repentance: A Joyful Choice) and LOVED it!! How incredibly blessed we are to have the choice to repent!! To come unto Christ!! God not only will forgive us but will help us become better for it. It truly is so amazing. We are so blessed!! He is SO GOOD!!!
- "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Matthew 6:24). "For how knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?" (Mosiah 5:13). Know God. Make Him your master! As my dear friend Carp said in his weekly email..."We can have Christ by choice or Satan by default". I love that. Choose Christ!! Know Him! Strive to emulate Him!! We can't have two masters. Every action we make, or don't, brings us closer or farther from God. We are always progressing in this life, it's up to us to choose in which direction we go!
- "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be..." (Luke 1:34). "And I said: Lord, whither shall I go that I may find ore to molten, that I may make tools to construct the ship after the manner which thou hast shown unto me?" (1 Nephi 17:9). I love how both Mary and Nephi are asked to do something that most people would not believe possible but that they both recognize that all things are possible through Christ. They don't complain or ask "why me?" or anything like that. They simply ask how they can achieve what the Lord has asked them to do. I LOVE THAT!!!!!! What a beautiful attitude to have!! So important!! Don't ask why God is asking something of us, just ask how He wouldst have us do it!!
- "The Lord shall fight for you..." (Exodus 14:14). So true. So good!
Last Pday some of the Elders in our district did (and conquered) the blazin' hot challenge at BWW. There was a whole lot of sweat, tears, and laughs on our part. Way fun! My comp and I went into culture shock being around so many nice things haha
