Week 3

HEEEEEEEYY!! This week has been crazy!!!! Amazing but crazy! Wednesday night was great! We welcomed the new district which was super fun! Lots of new Hermanas and Elders! Thursday was super productive. We taught our teacher posing as an investigator named Carlos for the first time and the spirit was really strong! When we asked him how we could improve our lessons he just gave us compliments haha. Probably not the best way to learn but it was still nice. We also taught our TRC investigator Diana and it went really well!! We talked about how God is loving and even though sometimes things happen in our lives that seem bad they can become blessings in the future. Like her not being able to go to college in Ecuador near her family but now she goes to BYU and loves it. Inflicted blessings! Friday we taught Diana again and she was falling asleep the whole time! She was so tired, we felt so bad for her but it was also really funny. When we finished Hermano Simonson came up to us because he had been watching the whole time!! Of all the lessons he could've watched he watched the one where we lulled our investigator to sleep. Of course haha. Esta bien. We met one of our districts new teacher in the afternoon, Hermano Page aka RICARDO our first investigator!!! Como eso! After dinner we had a sub and something she taught us that I absolutely love is that charity is rejoicing in others. How beautiful. Saturday was amazing! This whole weekend was amazing! General conference was AMAZING!!!!  I felt so spiritually full it was incredible. The church is so true! Before bed our district partied by gathering all of the food from our care packages and ate everything. So fun!! Until MTC security came and made us leave. Sunday night instead of having a devotional like we usually do Vocal Point, BYU's all men acapella group, came and sang for us a ton of church hymns and shared some spiritual thoughts. It was amazing!! We also got to watch 3 new segments from the Meet the Mormons movie which was really awesome! Monday we played volleyball as a district like always but we couldn't stop laughing the entire time. We always crack up over the silliest things but everything was so much funnier for some reason. Love them all so much!! We've all become such great friends! In the afternoon we taught Carlos (Hermano Simonson) again and it started out rough cause we still had the giggles. I was trying to find Santiago (James) 1:5 in the Bible and I couldn't find it so I just stared at my scriptures for a good 15 seconds before I shoved them at Hermana McGlinchy and she thought it was the funniest thing and couldn't stop laughing. But then we got a hold of ourselves and the lesson went really well! The gift of tongues is SO cool!! On Monday nights they cater fast food and we had Chick-fil-A, bless my life. Almost every Elder in my district had 3 helpings. I also had to say goodbye to my friend Elder Hatch which made me sad pero esta bien! Missions are great!! Yesterday was good! I gained a stronger desire to not just learn Spanish but to master it. We started learning commands and let's just say they're a doosy. No bueno. But I'm determined to master this language!! At lunch my friend Elder Hatch came to talk to me. COMO ESO! Turns out his flight got canceled so he's still here. Surprise! In the afternoon we taught members at TRC again. We taught an old Mexican woman about the importance of making the sacrament a spiritual experience that can last throughout the week. So important. And we also talked to an RM who just got married and is pregnant! She was so cute!! She ended up teaching us! We talked about how her and her husband met. She showed us her wedding pictures. We talked about her mission. It was awesome!! SO nice to hear about the outside world and a cute love story 'cause we never here about that kind of stuff anymore here in the MTC. Our hearts were melting!! We also taught Diana which went really well! She didn't fall asleep!! Our devotional was from Linda K. Burton, the Relief Society president of church so that was cool! During our devotional review I felt so motivated to do this work! I love being a Sister Missionary!! AHH life is good!! Last night in the dorms was so fun. I absolutely love the friends I've made here! Hermana Monk y Hermana Rolfson y mi companera are the best! We are CONSTANTLY laughing when we're together. I love them so much!!

Here are a few things that really hit me while listening to/talking about General Conference this week...
  • Things our faith can't do. Almost always we talk about how our faith can do anything, how it can move mountains. I strongly believe this is true. But there are two things our faith cannot do. Our faith cannot violate another's agency or change the will of God. But this is a blessing. God knows what's best for each of us. We should thank our Heavenly Father for not answering our prayers in the way we want because He has so much more in store for each of us. What a beautiful way to look at life and the relationship we share with our Heavenly Father! (Dieter F. Uchtdorf - General Women's Session)
  • Hearing the missionaries sing during the Saturday afternoon session. Incredible to think that so many of my friends were able to invite the spirit into millions of homes around the world! The church is so amazing!
  • God's joy is constant. Our trials will be a small moment and be consecrated unto us. (Russell M. Nelson - Sunday Morning)
  • The gospel is about one. About one lost sheep. About the one woman at the well. About one Hermana named Elaine. About becoming one with Christ. This gospel is so individual because Christ suffered for each of us individually and knows each of us personally. He loves us and I am so grateful for his constant hand in my life! (K. Brett Nattress - Sunday Afternoon)
Some other spiritual insights...
  • Every moment of my mission God is using me, there are no coincidences
  • 3 Nephi 5:13
  • Remember who you are and whose you are
  • God doesn't need us to serve missions. He let's us because He loves us and wants us to grow. This work is a privlidge. I am on the Lord's time. Let's get to work!!
Thank you to everyone who has sent me care packages and letters/emails. They really help! Love you all!! Pictures will hopefully be coming later today. Mucho amor!!
