CALIFORNIA aka THE PROMISED LAND!!!

I MADE IT!!! I'M IN CALIFORNIA!!! LIFE IS CRAZY!!! But crazy good!! So many miracles this week!! Loving life!!

Tuesday was our first day in California!! We met President and Sister Henrie. They're the best!! Such sweet and fun people!! After a few hours of paperwork we met our trainers!!!! My companions name is Hermana Nelson. She's been out for 11 months and is super awesome!! She's a runner so she's keeping me in shape (or at least trying to haha). Her family moves all over so she came from Thailand! Como eso?! So cool!! And she'll be going home to South Africa!! Things have been going great between us! Can't wait to see what these next three months together will bring! We have a car and I'm the driver...in California traffic...YIKES!! But we've only gotten one parking ticket so far so things are going well!! haha

Wednesday we finished unpacking. We live with two other Hermanas, our zone's STL's. They're nice but like to live in what my comp and I call the tundra. It's FREEZNG in our apartment 24/7!! I've been living in sweatshirts, long socks, and a blanket wrapped around me whenever we're home. For lunch we met with Hermano Escobar, our ward mission leader. Every week he feeds all the missionaries in our ward as we update him on our progress. Their are six missionaries in our ward including me! Some wards have 10!! So crazy!!! Totally normal for this mission though! At one point our ward had 13 missionaries! Como eso?! Way cool though!! In the afternoon was my first experience with Knock Out (KO). Everyday from 4-6 we knock doors. Sometimes super sketch but we make it fun!! We've met some really awesome people doing it!! After KO I taught my first ever lesson in the field to a boy named Eliver!! He's 15 and we committed him to baptism!! AAAHHH so exciting!! After our lesson we went to church for a Halloween party. Our building is HUGE!!! It has two chapels!! COMO ESO?? Literally ginormous. It was fun to go though and start to meet people!! Both my comp and I are new to this area, we're opening a new area so basically starting from scratch. It's been fun! Our area is 6 times the size of the other 2 companionship's areas combined! aka it's ginormous!!! Crazy but awesome!!

Thursday was a day of miracles!! We got music for our car!! It rained during KO!! Rain brings investigators! We met a woman during KO who was super busy but without us even having to ask her set up a time for us to come back and teach her the first lesson! While we were going to see an investigator a woman walking behind us flagged us down and told us she's been inactive for 3 years and wants us to teach her!! So awesome!!! We taught 2 of our investigators and the lessons went great! Other little things happened throughout the day that made our timing for everything so perfect. God works in mysterious way and it's been such a blessing to be able to see His plan unfold before our eyes!! Literally so cool!!!

Friday during KO we got yelled at by a woman trying to kick us out of her apartment complex, cursed at in a friendly way, and found a potential! At one door an awkward teenage boy answered and got so flustered while talking to us yelled "hail satan" and shut the door. lol at awkward boys. We spent most the night trying to find a ride to the temple the next day because our mission vehicles can't leave the mission and we had an appointment set up to go with one of our investigators! After over an hour of calling people we've never met we finally found a ride!!

Saturday morning our ride canceled on us. So, panicking, we spent another hour trying to find a last minute ride. And we did!! The moment we hung up the phone though our investigator canceled. lol at life. We still went though and it turns out the Sister who came with us is a less active so it ended up all being a tender mercy!! We walked the LA temple grounds. SO BEAUTIFUL!! And went to the visitors center which is super awesome! It was a great afternoon! During KO we met another potential! At one door we knocked they were having dinner and invited us to eat with them! It was sooo  yummy!! While going to check in with another potential we ran into Marialena, the 3 year less active woman, again!! So crazy!! We got her address (she didn't know before cause she had just moved to the area) and set up a time for us to come teach her! So awesome! We also met another one of our investigators that we've been trying to meet all week!! God's timing is so perfect!! It's been so amazing watching this!! He always blesses us but we have to work for it first. We have to try our faith. Sometimes we end up basically driving in circles but then we meet people at the perfect time and it all makes sense. So so amazing!

Sunday was Stake Conference. I got to see all my MTC buddies!! Love ya'll! I was able to understand some of it so that was good! During KO we knocked on a super creepy street!! One of the houses had over 20 naked barbies half barried in the dirt with their arms reaching out to you and a ton of clowns in the windows. And they weren't Halloween decorations. Needless to say we left a card on the doormat and got the heck out of there haha. For dinner we were fed by a family in our ward. IT WAS SO GOOD!! I WAS SO FULL!! We also finally met with one of our investigators named Benjamin. We had a really great lesson and are helping him prepare for baptism!

Today we're not allowed to be out because it's Halloween and our President doesn't want anything bad to happen so we're basically partying all day!!! aka we're meeting up as a zone to watch the Joseph Smith movie. lol I'm pumped!! Missionary life is the good life!!

Hope all is well in everyone's lives!! I know this is where I'm meant to be. This mission is so perfect for me! I love speaking in English one minute and Spanish the next. God is good! Life is good! Mucho amor!!
